The job market is the hottest it has been in over a decade, and it’s a candidate’s market. With this comes an understandable temptation for employees to seek greener pastures – even those employees who have only just joined your team. Strategic effort needs to be put into welcoming, integrating, educating, and assimilating your new hires into your organization. First impressions made in the employee’s first hours and days is not something you get to do over. Do it right and the honeymoon lasts a long while. Do it wrong and you increase your chances of losing the new hire and/or leaving a bad taste in their mouths at a time they are highly impressionable.
