In light of the recent harassment allegations against the Fox News Channel, it is important that companies know how to conduct internal investigations. Employers must understand the various types of workplace harassment complaints, which include civil rights discrimination, workplace violence, and sexual harassment. Some complaints “legally require an investigation” and other situations may warrant an investigation to “provide defense against later claims”. Employers are advised to develop processes for employees to come forward and to investigate claims once a complaint is made.
