MA: Paid Leave in Effect 7/1/19

The Massachusetts “Paid Family and Medical Leave” law will go into effect on July 1, 2019.

The state has published draft regulations and guidance clarifying several of the law’s requirements and deadlines for employers in anticipation of the law taking effect.

According to Davis and Gilbert LLP:

“Beginning in 2021, eligible employees will be allowed up to 20 weeks of paid medical leave and up to 12 weeks of paid family leave, but only up to 26 weeks of combined paid family and medical leave per benefit year.”
