NY: Anti-Harassment Legislation & Upcoming Deadlines

The results of a recent poll conducted by Siena College indicate that workplace harassment continues to be an issue, especially in the state of New York.

The New York Law Journal outlines the different measures states are taking to pass anti-harassment legislation to combat these issues, and highlights New York’s States new regulations as being the most stringent.

The survey also reported that:

  • “nearly half the women in New York state said they’ve been victims of sexual harassment; and
  • about 70 percent of respondents agree that sexual harassment in the workplace is a significant problem”.

All New York employers are reminded that they must institute a written sexual harassment prevention policy and conduct anti-harassment training for all employees by October 9, 2019.
