New Federal Trade Secrets Act Has Implications for U.S. Employers
On May 11, 2016, President Obama signed into law the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA). Effective immediately, the DTSA has significant implications for U.S. businesses. The act broadens the definitions of both “trade secret” and “misappropriation”, thereby expanding the rights of trade secret owners. Additionally, employers must notify employees of the new whistleblower immunity included in the act, which employers may want to include in employer agreements moving forward.
