The DOL has released an Opinion Letter addressing the status of individuals who work for gig economy platforms that connect service providers to clients.
The Opinion Letter maintains that they are independent contractors.
As explained by JD Supra:
“The Opinion Letter concludes that the workers were not employees because they were not economically dependent on the business.”
