On April 13th, the Connecticut House of Representatives passed a pay equity bill that would prevent employers from using “previously earned wages as a defense against a charge of pay inequity”. Among other changes, the bill would also prevent employers from revoking an employee’s seniority following maternity or family/medical leaves. The exact implications of these changes on employers remain to be seen. The bill now moves to the State Senate, and if passed, will go into effect October 1, 2017.
