Caregiving: The Next Big Workplace Crisis?

A recent study conducted by the Census Bureau has highlighted the issue that as American lifespans increase, so too do caregiving responsibilities for those still in the workplace.

The study also found that:

  • 73 percent of U.S. workers possessed some sort of caregiving role;
  • Eighty percent stated that caregiving duties prevented them from optimal performance at the workplace; and
  • 28 percent said that caregiving had hurt their careers.

Inc. warns employers that in order to retain top talent and ensure quality employee performance, employers must address what Inc. is calling “the next workplace crisis”.

Inc. encourages employers to assess their current workplace needs and provide employees with access to stress management professionals and other experts for guidance.
