HR Program and Process Design

Client with a need for Interim HR Outsourcing and HR cleanup.

Issue

Our client, a publishing and consumer services firm, terminated their HR Manager due to performance concerns, related towards lack of HR processes and poor administration of the HR function. Further, their HR Administrator, the only other member of the HR team, resigned. The HR department no longer existed to support the organization of 500+ employees.

Solution

We assumed immediate responsibility for the HR function, placing one expert resource on-site fulltime, while supplementing her efforts with the support of two other HR professionals. Over a four week period, we dissected the entire HR function, processes and methodologies, while analyzing present employee populations and reviewing benefit statements and billings, all with the goal of establishing a more orderly management of all HR data. Using our proprietary HR AssessSM methodology, a comprehensive audit was conducted of compensation, benefits, employee data per site, communications materials emanating from HR, and payroll registers for the prior three months’ cycles.

Results

We identified over $30k in errors on the benefits and compensation side, locating issues whereby employees that had been terminated were still on benefits, yet had never opted for COBRA coverage. Employee communications on benefit coverage rate information were discovered to be incorrect, resulting in the erroneous processing of hundreds of payroll deductions for benefit co-payments. All incorrect data and employee communications were updated and redeployed. The reengineered HR infrastructure was then handed off to a newly retained VP of HR.
