When to Provide COBRA Notification

COBRA notification is to be provided at the time of hire AND at the time of termination. Further, since dependents are typically receiving benefits, the COBRA documentation is to be mailed to the home address of the employee vs. handed to them so as to insure that all covered parties receive it.

 

Bottom line – don’t hand it off. Always mail it.
