Potential Workplace Implications of New Executive Orders

Employers are encouraged to keep a close eye on the recent White House executive orders, as several may have implications on the workplace. Most recently, the executive order announced on Friday, January 27th has placed a 90-day entrance ban on nationals from seven countries. The ban not only applies to refugees, but also to those with employment-based visas both coming to the United States for the first time as well as those returning from international travel. Additionally, the “visa interview waiver program” has been suspended for all foreign nationals, meaning that visa holders will now have a more difficult and longer process when renewing visas. Employers should follow these executive orders closely in order to understand the impact on their businesses, employees, and candidates.
