NYC “Freelance Isn’t Free Act” Now In Effect

Effective May 15th, “anyone engaging a freelance worker in NYC where the contract or contracts between the two parties has a value of $800 or more calculated over a 120 day period must comply with the new requirements under the ‘Freelance Isn’t Free Act.’” Known as FIFA, the Act requires that companies or individuals utilizing freelance workers enter into written contracts which must include contact information, an itemization and value of the services, and the date by which the contractor must be paid.
