The House of Representatives passed a bill on September 28th in an attempt to “delay the effective date of the new overtime rule”. While the bill still needs to pass the Senate, the White House announced that President Obama will veto the bill should it reach his desk. The bill, entitled the “Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act”, is an effort to push back the new overtime rule by six months. Employers should continue to prepare to meet the new compliance standards by December 1, 2016.
