The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has met the Congressionally mandated H-1B cap for the 2017 fiscal year. This includes both the 65,000 general petitions, as well as the additional 20,000 petitions for those with U.S. advanced degrees. The USCIS has not announced when they will conduct a computer-generated lottery to determine which H-1B petitions have been selected due to the large amount of petitions filed for 2017. Petitions that are not selected will be returned with filing fees.
