CT: Paid Family Leave Changes Possible in 2018

With New York State’s Paid Family Leave Act going into effect January 1, 2018, Connecticut employers should be prepared for the introduction of the act in their state as well.

Employers covered under the NY Paid Family Leave Act are to prepare for the changes by “obtaining PFL insurance, posting the required notice and updating employee handbooks” and beginning the payroll deduction. Connecticut employers should follow the actions of the state legislature closely, as a similar bill is likely to be introduced in 2018.
