AllCountyJobs.com Network Offers Free Intern Postings

Regional job board network AllCountyJobs.com has announced that they will be offering free postings on their job boards for any Internship postings in the area. The initiative is geared to matching college students with educational and learning opportunities at area businesses.

$125k Sexual Harassment Settlement Reached

The Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) settled a case this week with Florida hotel group Vacation Resorts International (VRI). As part of the settlement, VRI will pay out $125,000 to a woman who repeatedly reported sexual harassment by her male manager. In addition to the monetary settlement, the hotel group must also provide both sexual harassment and retaliation training to all employees, and one-on-one training to the accused manager as well as his direct supervisor.

 

Just One “Mean” Employee Can Drag Down Entire Workplace

This week, Forbes shared new research that indicates that “mean” employees have more of a negative impact than those employees who outwardly bully others. The study shows that “mean” behavior is less obvious that bullying, and usually includes behaviors that fly under most radars. Forbes says that being a victim or a witness to this type of behavior can lessen job satisfaction, contribute to mental health issues, and even cause sleep related problems.

Retaliation Claim Proposed Guidance
The Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released proposed retaliation claim guidelines to address the almost doubling of claims since guidance was last issued in 1998. Among the various components of the proposal offered by the EEOC are best practices, including the development and updating of anti-retaliation policies, employee training, and the review of the processes associated with retaliation complaints.
