84% of Local Businesses Surveyed Have Current Openings

Firms Report Challenges in Finding Talent

 

Norwalk, CT. [September 25, 2013] It is with great delight that leading area human resources consulting firm,OperationsInc (www.OperationsInc.com), and AllCountyJobs.com (www.AllCountyJobs.com), a leading job board network consisting of 21 online properties including FairfieldCountyJobs.com (www.FairfieldCountyJobs.com) and WestchesterCountyJobs.com (www.WestchesterCountyJobs.com), announce the results of their joint 2013 Job Market Activity Survey.

The survey of 118 firms in the Fairfield and Westchester County area asked participants to comment on positions their organizations have filled since 1/1/13, the number and types of openings they have today, and the driving factors behind any difficulty they may have experienced in 2013 as it pertains to finding and hiring talent. 65% of firms surveyed have less than 100 employees.

Among the key findings:

  • 43% of businesses surveyed said they have a difficult time sourcing talent at any price.
  • 41% reported an inability to find candidates willing to accept what their firm can pay in terms of compensation for their open roles.
  • The position types cited as most difficult to fill were in Sales, followed by Accounting/Finance, and IT.
  • 84% of those surveyed have open positions within their organizations today.

Further, the high percentage of firms reporting facing challenges finding affordable talent strongly points to the ongoing imbalance between the cost of living in the area vs. the roles area businesses are trying to fill and their corresponding pay rates.”
